Summary: pretty exciting book
Comment: I liked this book. I liked how there is so much excitment. This book is about Jerry Pye and his family the Pyes. Jerry is the guy that likes rocks, his father is into birds, and his sister wants to be like her father so she is into birds too. Jerry and his sister wanted a dog but they had to get a dollar before the other person got the dog. Sam Doody gave him a dollar if he dusted the church. So Jerry got the dog. When he and Rachel were walking home, they saw this weird person running with a yellow hat. Then when they were walking home from their grandmother's house, they heard these wierd foot steps. Sam Doody comes walking down the street so they catch up with him so they aren't walking alone. Then they went swimming and this same yellow hat fell from a tree. They marked it with a red crayon so when they saw that yellow hat with the red mark they would know it was the guy who had been following them. Then on Thanksgiving, Ginger, their dog, got stolen. Jerry thought he saw his classmate in the yellow hat and he was right. They found out that one of his classmates had stolen Ginger so they went to his classmates house and found out that he wanted Ginger to be a circus dog. They figured that his classmate and his father had left on a train. When Jerry and Rachel got home there was Ginger and his parents his grandma and is uncle Bennie. They got Ginger back!
Forgive me. I read three books before I gave this book a review so I forgot a couple of things. I really do recommend this book and I am 9. If I liked it, a lot then older people would like too. But it does go on and on about how Ginger is gone. However while Ginger was gone, there was still a lot of excitment in finding him.

Comment: I read this book a few years ago and hated it. The plot was horrible and the characters were oblivious to the most obvious things. I remember they found a hat and couldn't figure out who it belonged to when it was totally obvious. Pinky Pye, the sequel, was a much better book.

Comment: Ginger Pye was a really good book. Out of five stars I would give it a rating of four stars. I truly enjoyed the book, but it also has some sad parts.
Ginger Pye is a book about a girl named Rachel, her brother Jerry, and their puppy Ginger. Jerry wants to buy a dog, which Mrs. Speedy's is selling in her barn. Rachhel thinks that it is a good idea too, and their mom says they can buy it. All they have to do is earn a dollar by six a clock and the puppy is theirs. (I think in that time that was a lot of money, because they made a big deal about having to earn it so quikly.) They were able to earn the dollar and they got the puppy. There was a person with a yellow hat that also wanted their puppy. On Thanks Giving they put the puppy out side in a fence in the back yard. Then they ate Thanks Giving dinner. When they went back out side to get Ginger, he was gone! The book is about them having to find him. The problem is where is he? Did he get out of the fence or did some one steal him?
I like the book because it has great detail and good characters. There is Uncle Bennie (he is only three, but he is Rachel and Jerry's uncle), and Ginger (a cute and smart puppy).
It was a good book. It had so much detail about the characters, and everything. I sure enjoyed reading it. If you like mystery books, this is the book for you!

Comment: First of all this book is called ginger pye a great book. And this book is about a boy and a dog best friends this is a tastefull boo putten into very good words by the author elenore Estes. It is detailed very well and its about.... so one day a boy saw a dog being sold at a farm he seemed smarter than all the others and the boy wanted him like you love at first sight this was wanting at first sight. But he costed a dollar the kid was poor got it no allowance. So an older boy said he would give them a dollar. So they dusted and got ther dolar the whole family thought he was smart and cute. One day during a thanksgiving dinner the boy left him outside and when he came back out he was gone. And the began there lonley search for him but ended finding him years later.
