Come explore the vehicle designs of a far away galaxy called Galaxion where futuristic concepts exist in everyday life. Nine different spaceships, pods, race cars, giant trains, warships and balloons from various planets of the Galaxion system are shown from concept to completion. Daniel Simon is an established senior car designer who has spent the last several years focusing his talents on futuristic concepts for such automakers as Bugatti and Lamborghini. In his first book, Cosmic Motors, each chapter shows the design process of a unique vehicle, from the first ideation sketches to the stunningly detailed 3-D models to the final photorealistic full spread renderings. Join Daniel in this virtual world of visionary vehicles!

Customer Rating: Summary: excelence Comment: i was very glad to receive my book in perfect conditions. the price is really worthy: the quantity and quality of its contents are great!
the images are perfect and the design developed by the author is amazing, showing us how something that we judge impossible could be real when imagination has no limits!
i am a fan of him because his sketches and ideations are just as perfect as his 3D renderings, always expressive and emotive images.
Customer Rating: Summary: Really awesome book! Comment: I am an avid Syd Mead fan and Daniel Simon just about matches him, possibly surpassing Syd in the form of including real, tangible models with his artwork. This helps with better conceptualizing Simon's artwork, something I wish Syd Mead included with his art. For futurists out there, this book is a MUST to have in your library! Believe me, I have spent well over $100 for books that just don't do half of what this book does. Well worth every cent spent!
Customer Rating: Summary: long time to wait... for damaged goods Comment: Im not sure this is the kind of review amazon is expecting me to write. But here goes anyway. The "Cosmic motors" is a fantastic piece of work made under enviable circumstances. It is a dream for any designer to be assigned a no bar holds (and all paid for) sketch frenzy for years. The result is a inspirational guide and eye opener in one neat package. We have had this book at the office for a while now, and all the designers (my self included) have sifted through it on a daily basis. Leaving the book rather worn and torn Im afraid. It was about time to order some new copies.
So here is the real issue...
Id like to say this whithout pointing finger at anyone.
I am fully aware of it being a long chain of delivery,
from me ordering a product to recieving the badly damaged package.
Still...
It is rather disapointing. I ordered not one but two "cosmic motors" to replace the worn out copy we have here at the office. Sadly the wrapping was so damaged that both of our new copies were in worse shape that the one we already had.
Sure, I didnt put up the extra $$$ to get the ultra speed delivery option in velvet wrapping. But I DID pay around $100 for these books, so...
I guess what Im trying to say is that
You should recieve what you pay for, yes?
Not 346 torn wrinkeled and moist damaged pages with the back bindings broken.
I ordered books, not junk.

Customer Rating: Summary: Amazing concept design with perfect execution on details Comment: Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1Z6ZYN9S9WOZV In this book contains some of the best 3D vehicle renderings I've ever seen. There are spaceships, cars and bikes.
You have seen the ships from Star Wars, now imagine the vehicles are 10 times sleeker. That's what you get in this book.
Daniel Simon has also include over hundreds of his concept design sketches for his vehicles. Not only that, he has provided interesting back stories into the history of the vehicles.
What is Cosmic Motors?
Cosmic Motors is an independent manufacturer of vehicles of all kinds, located in the center of the Galaxion Galaxy. CoMo, as it is affectionately referred to by its fans, was founded by the famous Redooa brothers in the Galaxion year 8966-B. (From the book)
The most amazing part of the book is the super realistic renders. Those sexy models standing beside the vehicles are real life models. They are composited onto the 3D illustration later on. Details are added later, such as reflections of the models and mechanics on the glossy car surfaces. The photos, no, illustrations are printed big for showing off all the glorious details. They are so good I have hard time believing they are not real.
This book is highly recommended for concept artists into futuristic designs and vehicles.

Customer Rating: Summary: Beautiful Book Comment: This book was first introduced to me by my best friend Score, Who is an Art Director at a huge corp..
I was blown away by the beauty of the Digital Art and the Very Imaginative Compositions. Some of the renderings are Just gorgeous.
I've read some of the criticism about this book, Which I must say has a lot to do with envy than the quality of the work in this book, "I'd like to see them do better". Being a Traditional artist myself,
I understand that compared to The Masters of Paint, Brush and Canvass, That create realisim and beauty manually, The Digital art can appear "fake" to some, But to consider the fact that one must instill into the computer all the physics needed to create an image the way the masters do manually can justify Digital as its own beautiful style of Art. Whether Paintbrush, Airbrush or Computer, The fact remains that the Artist's ability to compose a beautiful image from his or her minds eye regardless of the tools he or she uses, is what matters. This book verifies that. I just had to purchase this book to add to my collection.
It is now next to my collection of Boris Vallejo and Frank Frazetta, to name a few.
This Is One Beautiful Book!
